Courtesy Call...

It has been a tradition with Mama's Family that we spend the eve of Christmas and New Year in our houses but come the actual days, nasa bukid kami to spend it with our Mommy and Daddy - our grandparents.

This year, ME got to re-live that tradition...

Ang laki na ng pinagbago ng bukid...

Wala ng kubo - napalitan na ng three-bedroom bungalow.

Wala ng creek na malinis na pwedeng pagliguan - napalitan na ng creek na madumi na tinatapunan ng patay na aso.

Wala na din masyadong rice fields - pinalitan na ng mga subdivisions.

Pero kahit ganun, some things remain the same...

Tulad ng pamilya namin - makulit pa rin... ma-ingay pa rin...

At saka yung banyo...

Eto ang paliguan namin sa bukid...

Kung maliligo ka, hilain mo lang yung shower curtain palibot mo...

At pag nakatayo kang maligo, kita ang kalulwa mo from the outside...

Pero kahit ganun pa mam ang banyo, hindi na kami umangal kasi naman ang toiletries ni Mommy...

Parang gusto na lang mahiya ng toiletries ko... PANALO!

The Myth that is a Dog...

HE went home to me last Sunday.

So I woke up to the smell of bacon.

It was one scent that I associate to HE.

SHE and twins are out to buy me a gift. HE

Don't worry, SHE knows I'm here. HE continued

Let's eat tapos tara sa auntie ko. HE again.

I'm meeting a family member? Hala... ME thought.

So after a grueling 1.5 hours, we finally reached Tatay.

And voila! HE's auntie happens to be a vet.

I looked at him suspisciously.

HE just gave ME his What-Did-I-Do-? look.

We went in and as protocol will have it, I was introduced as THE best friend.

Oh, ano nangyari kay Bruce? Di ba sya dati best friend mo? Auntie with a BIG emphasis on best friend.

Auntie naman. HE

Auntie just smiled and looked at me.

Pero for the record K, ikaw pa lang ang best friend nya na dinala nya dito sa akin. Auntie

I smiled back.

HE has a green thumb for pets - dogs specially I soon found out.

Nung college pala, nagpart-time siya dun sa clinic ng Auntie nya bilang assistant.

And soon enough without doing anything, lumapit na sa kanya mga aso...

Nangilatis muna yung aso...

Tapos yan na, hinawakan na ni HE...

The next ting I know, nasa lap na yung aso...

Sinamahan pa nang isa.

Kukunin nyo ba? Auntie pertaining to the white Pomeranian.

HE looked at me.

Gusto mo? HE

I felt ambushed for a decision, so the businessman in me swayed my head left and right.

And HE knows when NOT to argue.

Pag-iisipan pa Auntie eh. HE

On the way home.

I just want you to have company lalo na pag matagal akong wala. HE

Sweet pero mamamatay lang yung aso. ME

Pakilala mo na lang ako kay best friend Bruce para may kasama ako pag wala ka. ME added sarcastically.

HE looked at me and then laughed. Yung talagang heartfelt laugh na parang nakaka-gago.

Bruce was a dog. HE wiping a tear from his eyes out of laughing too much.

Pahiya ako.

Tae, minsan na nga lang magselos, sa aso pa. ME

Hahahahahahahahaha. HE

It was like that till we got home. Laugh on and off lang si HE.

Well at least I scored some when we got home.

And oh, isang aso lang ang lumapit sa akin...

Yung inverted heart just below the nose is his tongue. Super cute. Tapos naka-hang lang yung dila nya forever. :)

Pagod...

My boss is not taking my resignation seriously.

I gave it by end of October but lo and behold, its mid-December and I'm still sitting on my chair staring at the bulk of work that needs to be done before the year ends.

To think, other officers were given my tasks already too...

Sigh.

I could choose to not just go to work, but I owe my boss more than that - he, after all, gave me a chance when others did not see the slightest potential in me...

But I'm tired.

Alam ko naman na may mas pagod pa sa akin...

At may mas nangangailangan pa ng pahinga...

But I think I've exhausted all my happy thoughts already just to get through a day...

HE is with the twins until the  New Year.

Its the Holiday Season.

Di ba mas masaya naman talaga kung meron si nanay at tatay pag Pasko?

I don't want to take that away from the twins...

SHE offered that I join them for Noche Buena pero I declined na out of courtesy, I know naman that the parents shall be there and the siblings...

Wag na SHE, besides, what will we tell them this time? I'm not even the twin's ninong... Hehehe... ME

We don't need to tell them anything you know... SHE

Wag na, i'll be spending it with my Mom... ME

Ikaw, basta the offer stands... HE would be glad... SHE

I was tempted, pero its going to be too awkward just in case.

So I mustered the courage to talk with the boss.

Why do you still keep me sir? ME

I like you around. I get a sense of comfort when I see you in your chair... Boss

You are being too kind Sir. Your officers are very much capable to do what I do for you... ME

And then he gives me 'the' look.

It did not mean anything (Hala, parang excuse lang ng asawang huling-huli sa akto...)

It was the time when SHE miscarried and HE went through one of his phases...

Overtime with the boss... Hot and Spicy chicken wings... Plus a couple of beers... Equals a night that you should forget...

God? Why do these things happen to me? And why was there beer anyway?

Today, I finally got a letter from the HR accepting my resignation by December's end (Hinayaan ko na 'to, what's a couple of weeks more, db? At least I could clear up my desk by then...)

But reading through it, the letter also stated that the company is keeping me for 'Consultancy' on a project-based basis.

Sigh.

Will talk to HE first and muster another courageous feat to talk with the boss.
